Recent Trips

Since my last update, I've been going to a lot of different cities/places. 2 weeks ago I went to the first Rotex weekend for the west side of Switzerland. We spent Saturday in Brunnen walking around the village and doing archery.  After that we took a small train halfway up Mt. Rigi and spent the night in a huge house. It was the kind of house that when you first walk through it, you feel like you're in a horror movie. Throughout the night we hung out, danced, and had a great time. On Sunday we got up at 4:30 in the morning to hike up the rest of Rigi at 5. It took us about an hour and a half, but the sunrise was completely worth it. After coming back to the house, we hiked down the other side of Rigi and then took a gondola down to lake Lucerne, where we took a boat ride to the train station. The weekend was so much fun and I can't wait for the next one!
After that, I spent the next week looking at ancient roman ruins in different places in Switzerland. I went with a program that my school offered, and it was so cool! We saw ruins that were in Bern, we went to Pettinesca, where we hiked around and saw some temple ruins, and then we went to Avenches, where we went to an ancient roman museum and saw an ancient roman arena. We also walked 10 km (6 miles) from Avenches to Murten.
After that week (last week), I officially started my fall vacation. My older host brother's old counselor and his wife from the US are here visiting my host fam, and we've gone a bunch of places with them so far. We went to an open air museum about all the different types of buildings in Switzerland, and we also went on a carriage ride! We also went up the Plz Gloria, where they filmed the old James Bond movie "License to Kill". It is an outlook on top of an Alp (3,000 meters high) with a rotating restaurant. After that we had dinner at a Chinese restaurant that overlooked lake Thun, since it was my host dad's birthday. Yesterday we visited Basel and saw their Munster (the cathedral) which was super cool.
In a couple of days we are leaving for a week in Italy! We will spend a coupled days in Baveno, a little village on the coast and then we're going to Milan!
